Fig. 29 illustrates the SI functional architecture for a circuit-switching network that does not support packet data transmission. In this case, SI server interacts with network control equipment via an open interface of OSA/Parlay type.

This makes the SI service space available for circuit-switched network nearly the same as for packet-switched one. Thus, the SI technology allows a significant raise of the service level available in circuit-switched networks.
