TECHNOLOGY 4. Software Components

MagPhonic, as an operational prototype of SI client application for the telephony, is practically a universal phone prototype. “Universal phone” means that this prototype is suitable as the common base of software development for various phone types: mobile phones, radiophones for wire communications, IP-phones, Wi-SI and Wi-Max phones as well as for appearing multi-standard phones providing access to any communication network via dedicated access points (gateways) based on the universal wireless communication system.

Even in simple case of client software installed to the existing phone model, changes to the user interface of the phone will be so impressive that the user will consider this phone as a new telecommunications market product.

For detailed examination of possible SI-enabled mobile user terminals read the charter “Features and Advantages for Specific Development Areas of Infocommunications Market: Mobile User Terminals”.

As a prototype, MagPhonic emulates a phone user interface on a PC screen. Meanwhile, the prototype looks very close to the existing phone model for more realistic emulation. The prototype establishes communication sessions via IP networks and SI server available at the Internet.

After a transition from the prototype to real telephony networks not supporting packet data transmission, SI server will manage MagPhonic communication sessions interacting with network control equipment via open access programming interface like OSA/Parlay under various business models. This way a phone system may use various techniques to provide SI technology support: by supporting SI client application at the phone operational system level, using additional Java-applet or SMS-queries (in the last case there is no need to add any additional software to the existing phone models).

While testing MagPhonic you may appreciate how it is easy to use free infocommunications as well as to appreciate the value of MagPhonic’s user interface features.
